Artist Bio

Selena Gomez, a versatile artist, has achieved significant success in both acting and music, consistently topping charts since her career’s inception. Her band, Selena Gomez & the Scene, released three successful pop albums between 2009 and 2011, each reaching the Top Ten. Transitioning to a solo career, she produced two number-one albums, Stars Dance (2013) and Revival (2015), and explored diverse musical styles through collaborations with artists like Kygo and Marshmello. Gomez’s first number-one single, “Lose You to Love Me” (2019), showcased a more personal and introspective lyrical approach. In 2021, she ventured into Latin pop with the Revelación EP, while also starring in Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” and featuring in the 2022 documentary “Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me,” and the film Emilia Pérez. Subsequently, she released the intimate album “I Said I Love You First” with Benny Blanco.

Born in 1992 in Texas, Gomez began her career as a child actress on “Barney and Friends” and later gained prominence on the Disney Channel, notably in “The Wizards of Waverly Place,” which premiered in 2007. During this time, she launched her music career, contributing to Disney soundtracks and forming Selena Gomez & the Scene, which released gold-certified albums like “Kiss & Tell” (2009) and “A Year Without Rain” (2010). Gomez balanced her acting and music careers, starring in films like “Ramona and Beezus” (2010).

As “The Wizards of Waverly Place” concluded in 2010, Gomez focused on her band’s third album, “When the Sun Goes Down” (2011), before taking a hiatus from music to pursue more mature acting roles, such as in “Spring Breakers” (2013). Her return to music with the solo album “Stars Dance” (2013) showcased her evolving sound, incorporating dubstep, R&B, and EDM, and achieved number-one status on the Billboard 200. Following management changes and a record label switch, she released “For You” (2014), featuring the platinum single “The Heart Wants What It Wants.”

In 2015, Gomez collaborated with Zedd on “I Want You to Know” and released “Good for You” featuring A$AP Rocky, leading to her album “Revival,” which topped the Billboard 200 and produced multiple Top Ten singles. During her “Revival” tour, she addressed health issues related to lupus, including a kidney transplant. After a period of recovery, she released collaborations with Kygo and Marshmello in 2017. The following year, she balanced acting, producing, and music, releasing solo singles and collaborating with artists like DJ Snake and Benny Blanco.

In 2019, Gomez released “Lose You to Love Me,” her first number-one single, setting the stage for her sixth album, “Rare” (2020), which also topped the charts and explored personal themes. Her 2021 Spanish-language EP, “Revelación,” earned a Grammy nomination. Gomez continued her acting career in “Only Murders in the Building” and released the documentary “Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me” (2022), detailing her struggles with mental and physical health. She released the singles “Single Soon” and “Love On”, and starred in the film “Emilia Pérez” while also returning to her Disney roots in the pilot of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. She released the album “I Said I Love You First” with Benny Blanco in 2025.

Producer Benny Blanco, a figure with numerous chart-topping successes, creates vibrant pop compositions and collaborates with prominent figures in the pop music scene. Beginning in the late 2000s, this award-winning (and Grammy-nominated) songwriter crafted hit singles for artists like Ed Sheeran, Britney Spears, Lizzo, SZA, and Rihanna, writing several number-one hits, including Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” and Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger.” He debuted as a solo artist in 2018 with the platinum-selling Friends Keep Secrets LP and partnered with Selena Gomez for 2025’s personal, diary-style I Said I Love You First.

Benjamin Levin, born in Reston, Virginia, began as an amateur producer, inspired in his youth by Aqua and Bryan Adams. As a teenager, he released a collaborative album with Spank Rock titled Spank Rock and Benny Blanco Are…Bangers & Cash. He then received crucial mentorship from Disco D and later Dr. Luke, initiating his rapid climb to the top of the pop charts. Early hits included Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot N Cold,” and Kesha’s “Tik Tok” and Britney Spears’ “Circus.” In the 2010s, Blanco added more hits to his catalog with Perry and Kesha, while building relationships with frequent collaborators Maroon 5, Sheeran, Bieber, Rixton, and others. Embracing various genres, he produced for country singer Keith Urban, R&B artist Rihanna, pop star Ariana Grande, indie bands Passion Pit and Francis and the Lights, and Diplo’s electro-dancehall project Major Lazer.

In 2018, in addition to writing songs for Cardi B, Anne-Marie, and Juice WRLD, Blanco collaborated with Kanye West on his Wyoming Sessions projects, contributing to Ye, Kids See Ghosts, and Nasir. That summer, he released his debut single, the multi-platinum Top Ten “Eastside,” featuring Halsey and Khalid. The song appeared on his debut album, Friends Keep Secrets (Interscope), released in late 2018. The album also featured the hit songs “I Found You” with Calvin Harris and “Roses” with Juice Wrld and Brendon Urie. Another collaboration with Juice Wrld, “Graduation,” was released in 2019, along with “I Can’t Get Enough” with Tainy, Selena Gomez, and J Balvin. More tracks followed, including 2020’s Grammy-nominated “Lonely” with Justin Bieber and 2021’s “You” with Marshmello and Vance Joy, which appeared on Blanco’s Friends Keep Secrets 2 EP. 2022’s “Bad Decisions” featured collaborations with BTS and Snoop Dogg.

He continued to collaborate with a diverse range of artists over the following years, including Lil Dicky, Eminem, Grupo Frontera, and Kali Uchis. Outside of music, Blanco pursued his interest in cooking, releasing his first cookbook, Open Wide: A Cookbook for Friends, in 2024. That same year, he appeared on Myke Towers’ La Pantera Negra album and prepared an album with his fiancé Selena Gomez. Comprised of songs about their relationship, I Said I Love You First was released in March 2025. ~ Neil Z. Yeung.
